Student Handbook 2010 - 2011

     A Note to Parents

Welcome to FCMS!  We look forward to a great year for your middle school student.  We believe we are partners with you and your child in creating success.  Below are a few of the things that enable us to meet the needs of our students more effectively and efficiently.

  • Students need to know the phone numbers where parents/guardians may be reached during the day.  This is a safety issue.
  • The data sheet is VERY IMPORTANT.  Please complete it and send it back to school tomorrow.  If someone comes to pick up your child who is not on the list, we will not allow the student to go.
  • If there is someone who should NOT have contact with your child, list it on the data sheet.
  • If your address or phone number changes during the year, please notify the office.
  • ATTENDANCE at school is essential to true success.  Checking out early causes students to miss valuable instruction.  There is a direct correlation between absences and poor CRCT scores.  Every student needs to be here every day, all day unless they are sick.
  • Students should not be on campus before 7:15 am or after 4:00 pm unless they are involved in an extracurricular activity.  Please make sure your child has an on-time ride for any after school activities. The school day for the 2010-2011 school year has been extended. Classes will begin at 7:50 am and end at 3:30 pm.
  • Clarify afternoon information, such as how a child gets home, in the mornings before coming to school.  We will be glad to assist you in the event of an emergency, but it should not be a daily occurrence.
  • We will not take transportation change information after 3:00 pm.
  • Communication between the school and home is important.  Encourage your student to use the agenda to write assignments and other information.  RAC points are recorded weekly in the agenda as well.
  • If you have an email address, please make sure the teachers have it.  Email communication enables us to communicate more quickly.
  • We encourage parent-teacher conferences.  If your child is doing well or not as well as you would like, call 706 384-4581, ext. 2312 to set up a conference.  Teachers are also very willing to return phone calls or respond to email.
We look forward to a great partnership and a wonderful year!
