Attendance |
| |
|
Being in
school every day is the first step to every student's
academic success. With that in mind, the state of
Georgia established the Compulsory Attendance Law pursuant
to O.C.G.A. Code 20-2-690.1, which states that students
cannot miss more than 5 unexcused days of school in a school
year. At enrollment and registration, every parent,
guardian, and student (age 10 and older) shall receive and
sign the Compulsory Attendance Law notice. In Franklin
County Schools, parents and students will receive a letter
at 5 unexcused absences scheduling a meeting with the
Attendance Support Team. At the middle and high
schools, if absences continue and a student reaches 8
unexcused absences, a referral will be made to the School
Social Worker, Sarah Bryan. At the elementary schools,
if absences continue and a student reaches 10 unexcused
absences, a referral will be made to the School Social
Worker, Sarah Bryan. Please see the Compulsory
Attendance Law notice for more details on the definition of
an excused absence and the consequences for excessive
absences. Thank you for having your student in school
every day! |
