  • The younger generations are producing fewer college graduates in a time when America needs a MORE educated population in order to compete globally in the information/digital age...

  • China's plan today is to educate 15-20% of their population...they have 1.3 billion people, therefore, they will have more college graduates than we have people in the United States! (GA DOE 2006)

  • We need to start saying...
    • "Finish your homework!  People in China are starving for your job!"
    • "Fortune favors the prepared mind." - Louis Pasteur

    • Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.  It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.  Every morning a lion wakes up.  It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.  It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle.  When the sun comes up, you better start running.  (GA DOE 2006)
  • On average a high school drop-out will be rejected for 94 out of 100 jobs.
  • High school dropouts cost the nation about $944 billion in lost revenue while increasing welfare and crime-related spending by $24 billion.
  • 82% of prison inmates do not have a high school diploma.  In 1996, the national average cost of prisons was $20,142 per prisoner in federal prisons and $23,500 in state prisons.
  • America holds 110,284 in juvenile facilities (Butterfield, 2003).
