Franklin County Middle School

Title I Information

Title I is a Federal Program that has been in place since the 1960’s.  Title I funding is determined by the number of economically disadvantaged students in a school.  Some schools have a smaller percentage of economically disadvantaged students and are considered Targeted Assistance Programs.  Our school has a percentage at or above 50% and is considered a school-wide program.

Title I money is budgeted to the district and then allotted to schools based on the FTE count (number of students).  Title I money may only be used to enhance Reading and Math programs, support Parental Involvement initiatives, and support Science programs.  The budgets are submitted to the district office and then must be submitted to the state and approved.

Over the years, we have used Title I money to buy computers, additional reading materials, teacher training, parental involvement materials (newsletters, Middle Grades Parent helps, etc.), math materials and manipulatives, and CRCT preparation resources among other things.

To help coordinate our parental involvement program, a parental involvement coordinator has been hired by the district.  Mrs. Cindy Luper works with the four Elementary schools and Middle School to assist in involving parents in schools.  If you have ideas or suggestions for improving our parental involvement participation, please call Mrs. Luper (at any of the four schools) or email her at cluper@franklin.k12.ga.us.
