FERST FOUNDATION is a program that promotes literacy by providing Georgia children from birth to age five quality children's books to enjoy in their homes. Each child enrolled in the program receives twelve high quality, developmentally appropriate books each year. The books come each month accompanied by a newsletter containing tips and activities to assist parents as they read with their preschoolers. We believe that this program will help our children to develop better reading and learning skills, and to be more successful in school. Many of our Franklin County teachers support one or more children each year because they know what a difference it makes when children own and have books read to them BEFORE school!
FRANKLIN FERST is supported by The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, Franklin County School System, and the Franklin County Community Action Team to benefit the children of FRANKLIN COUNTY. Books are provided to the children at no cost to their families. You can help make this program successful by joining the FRANKLIN COUNTY businesses and individuals who are already contributing. The cost for the program is ONLY $36.00 per child per year. 100% of monies donated in our county are used to provide books for children in Franklin County. Administrative and fundraising expenses are paid by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and FERST FOUNDATION COMMITTEE volunteers.

We now have a Parent Resource Center located in the Board of Education's County Office located at 280 Busha Road, Carnesville (the OLD Franklin County Junior High School). We are a "work in progress" but are now welcoming visitors.
